SWANS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM AND TOUR
Last summer, Michael Gira of Swans announced that this latest incarnation of the band would be heading into the studio for the final time…now the fruits of their labour will be heard in the forthcoming album, The Glowing Man.
The album is set to drop on June 17th via Young God Records and it will be accompanied with one final round of touring by the current roster that features Kristof Hahn, Norman Westberg, Thor Harris, Phil Puleo and Christopher Pravdica.
As was the case with 2014’s brilliant To Be Kind, Gira himself handled the production, while John Congleton served as the primary engineer. Recording took place at Congleton’s Sonic Ranch studio outside El Paso, as well as Dallas, Seattle and Berlin. In a letter Gira released on the Young Gods website, he shared that one song (When Will I Return?) was written for his wife Jennifer (she would end up singing lead vocals), while another used lyrics that were originally used in a Sonic Youth song (The World looks Red/The World Looks Black).
Head over to Young God Records for tour date information and Gira’s letter to the fans.
